Part historical fact. Part historical farce.
An army in need of discipline.
A Baron with other ideas.
America is turning 250. Let’s talk about who drilled the men. In 1778, Baron von Steuben helped turn Washington’s struggling army into a fighting force. In our mostly true version, he’s also trying to get promoted, keep his lovers happy, and find a country that will let him stay.
Created by Jenny Zigrino and Caleb Zeringue, and written with Jeffrey Jay, The Drillmaster gives the Founding Fathers military ambitions, relationship problems, and some extremely unprofessional behavior. See the newly revised script performed by a cast of comedians at The Elysian on October 13.
